The ZX-056N is a dynamic RAM board available in 128KB and 256KB configurations, with or without ECC. The board's memory mapping can be implemented by either RAM, ROM (supplied with the board) or EPROM. The RAM mapping applies best in a system which requires dynamic memory mapping, such as an 8-bit system which requires bank switching. The RAM is programmed "on the fly" through on-board I/O ports. The ECC version of the board corrects single-bit errors and flags double-bit errors. The error correction is implemented with a special purpose LSI device which computes a 6-bit check word for data values. The ZX-056N has an access time of 450ns and permits both 8 and 16-bit data transfers.
