The MIX422 module in an 8-channel high-speed synchronous communications controller designed for applications requiring rapid data acquisition and transmittal.  Each of the eight independent Wide Area Network (WAN) channels is coupled with a dedicated integrated universal serial controller (IUSC) for full-duplex data exchanges.  Data rates are enhanced by two full-capacity 16MHz DMA channels in each IUSC.

The MIX422 is compatible with the RS-422 electrical specification and supports both the RS-449 and X.21 physical layer communications protocol.  It is designed to sustain full-duplex data rates up to T-1 and E-1 speeds (1.544Mbps and 2.048Mbps respectively).  The MIX422 module can be stacked to a maximum level of three modules for up to 24 channels on each MIX baseboard.
