The SBX586 Ethernet Data Link Engine is a single wide SBX card that provides a low-cost Ethernet controller for single board computers with 16-bit SBX bus capability.  Based on the 82586 Local Area Network Coprocessor, the SBX586 implements the data link (Layer 2) and physical (Layer 1) layers of the International Standards Organization (ISO) Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) reference model.  This allows the SBX586 to supply an IEEE 802.3 10Mbps (Ethernet) connection.
