The SBC221S is a multifunction peripheral controller that provides access to high-performance SCSI-2 peripherals, including hard drives, floppy drives,and streaming tape.

The SBC221S supports two operational protocols.  The IOPB mode is fully compatible with the SBC214 and the SBC221, requires no changes to existing software drivers, and also supports the same floppy and tape drives as the SBC214 and SBC221.  The SIOPB protocol allows use of the full SCSI-1 and SCSI-2 functionality via pass-through SCSI commands to standard SCSI peripherals.
